Since beginning a new job in SoHo in January, I have spent an inordinate amount of time in the neighborhood, both before, during, and after work. It tends to be a bit of a tourist nightmare these days, especially during the day on main drags such as Broadway, where the shoppers amass. But you can still find some great eats in Soho, especially if you go a bit off the beaten path. Here are some of my favorite haunts.

Raoul’s – Still my favorite burger in the city, and with an old-school Parisian vibe to boot. Don’t miss the steak frites here either.

Miansai Tea Bar – Tucked away inside a little retail shop, this tiny tea bar has an incredible selection of interesting teas. I recently tried a coconut tea here that absolutely blew me away.

The Dutch – I’ve been to The Dutch many times over the years, and it’s always one of those places that is never the trendiest or the most mind-blowing, but is consistent and not too hard to get into. That doesn’t sound like a glowing review, but I think there’s something to be said for a place that can serve as your stand-by for brunch, dinner, or oyster happy hour and never disappoints.

Dominique Ansel Bakery – The OG, literally. A cronut will never not be worth it, and I speak from experience when I say that they truly make the best gifts.

Antique Garage – Vintage chandeliers, mood lighting, and kitschy decor adorn this Mediterranean-centric spot, which is perfect for going with a group and sharing a bunch of menu items.

Sadelle’s – Have friends or family visiting from out of town? Take them to Sadelle’s. Not only is the bagel and lox spread delicious, but there is a very impressive quality to the space and the presentation. Make a reservation.

Hundred Acres – Fresh and seasonal, with an awesome veggie selection, Hundred Acres is my go-to for when I want a dinner that’s relatively healthy, good for sharing, and still delicious.

Alidoro – Do not by any means miss this Italian sandwich mecca, which is only open during the week and can easily serve as two meals.

Mercer Kitchen – Whether you want sea bass or a juicy burger, Mercer Kitchen is a more scene-y spot that delivers on delicious food. It’s also a great pick for group dinners, and they are very amenable to working with you on a pre-fixe menu.

Little Prince – I have 4 words for you: French onion soup burger. It’s not on the menu, but order it. Also, the little vine and flower-adorned restaurant is pure visual charm and magic.

Blue Ribbon Brasserie – The highlights of this extensive menu are raw bar and juicy steaks, and also note that they are open until 4am for your dining pleasure.
