2018 was a year. For all of the highlights that you see here and on Instagram (and don’t get me wrong, there were an incredible number of highlights), there were also plenty of moments of uncertainty and disappointment as well. I left the corporate world, ended a relationship, and moved in by myself for the very first time this year. As the legendary David Bowie said, “ch-ch-ch-ch-changes.” Through it all, having a creative space to document what I was cooking, photographing, reading, visiting, and devouring was a constant support system that I took for granted, until I didn’t. I am consistently mindful of and grateful for this little life that I’ve carved out for myself in NYC, and all that I am able to experience here and beyond. So I pulled together some of my favorite things that I did this year, from books to restaurants to recipes to travel destinations. Even if I am not able to revisit all of these in 2019 (the pear bourbon pie will be easier to recreate than the Copenhagen trip), I’m glad that they are immortalized in these pages, and I’ll look back on them with great joy and an abundance of gratitude.
